Our Team
Phil started his wheat experience by working under Chris Bowley at Wheat Tech Inc. for seven years. After branching out on his own to start Midwest Wheat Consultants (MWC), Phil has expanded coverage to 5 states, scouted over 500,000 acres and added to his services to cover barley, canola, sunflowers, rye, and oats.
MWC’s past 27 years in the business have developed partnerships with seed breeders, equipment people, straw buyers, non-GMO double crop seed beans, contracts for canola, barley, and sunflowers, a specialized tracking program, and variable rate technology.
Since MWC is not a local service provider, we travel from north to south, over 8 hours away, bringing a perspective of what needs to be addressed before it hits your area. Covering this range helps catch any issues, limiting its impact on yield.
MWC’s enthusiasm about wheat brings a fresh look at your business as a farm. We can help you take on new challenges, and connect you to other farmers and resources that help you reach your goals and aspirations.
Phil was joined by Crit Whitlock in 2010, Aaron Travis in 2013, and Kirk Winger in 2019, rounding out our current staff. Our goal is to help you generate over $1,000 an acre having wheat in your rotation.
MWC staff count it an honor to assist you in any way possible while getting a chance to look at your wheat.
MORE ABOUT PHIL:
Phil and his wife Susan met while students at Purdue University. After their wedding they made their home near Wabash, Indiana, where they still call home today. Their life together has blessed them with four daughters, three sons-in-law, and most recently four grandchildren. Phil and Susan are both active in their local church. While scouting wheat fields across the midwest, Phil can often be found stopping in at a local pickle ball court for a quick game.
